The Story

This monkey puzzle tree predates the bungalow and is associated with the church / manse buildings behind. The photo is from August 2025. Kirkholm was home to the famous arctic explorer Sir John Ross 1777-1856. His nephew, James Clark Ross 1800-1862 explored both poles. Ross Road, Stanley on the Falkland Islands is named after James Clark Ross. The British Antarctic Survey office on Ross Road, Stanley has its own monkey puzzle tree.
