Mildly Eccentric
A touch unexpected, rather charming
This lovely guy isn't on the map of monkey puzzle trees of Portland Oregon, and I stumbled on it quite accidentally. It shares its neighborhood and apparent age with at least four other surviving specimens, though, and I guess it to be from the crop of seedlings that came here via the Seattle World's Fair in 1962. I thought the juxtaposition of its brooding darkness with the bright aqua-blue house next door was especially striking.
